BRANDING.

If we had one word to describe the most important thing in your business, that word would be branding.

Branding is how you build loyalty and gain repeat customers, and it is critical for the success of any business.

If someone says “Nike” to you, what comes to mind? I’d bet you see the big Nike swoosh logo and think high-end sports equipment. If someone says, “Tesla” to you, you probably think cutting edge automotive technology. Now if someone says Buzpbx to you, what do you think? Buzpbx? What’s that? Buzpbx is a local internet service provider delivering low-cost services to small businesses. It is a fine company, but makes no real statement in the retail marketplace, but it sure could.

Three ways to brand your business:

VIDEO: Produce a short video to profile your business. Publish this video on your website, YouTube, Vimeo, FaceBook, LinkedIn, and everywhere else you can think of. Make the video interesting so everyone watches it to the end. That’s important because Google knows if people watch until the end, and you get better search ranking when they do.

SMART CONTENT: Write blogs that are timely. For instance, an air conditioning company may produce smart content in February on how to check your AC system before summer. Short simple videos drive the point home even better and get you more exposure. Write at least one blog a month.

SOCIAL MEDIA: Obvious, but important and often missed. Produce the video and shout it out through the social media venues. Write a smart content blog and shout it out through social media venues.

Everyone should and can brand themselves and their businesses. And it does NOT cost a lot of money to do it either. It just takes creativity. And that creativity will really pay off over time if you make the effort.

David and Kathryn Seay are video producers in the Dallas Fort Worth area.
